As composer for the concert stage, Richard’s recent premiers
include Poe-etic Reflections (trio – violin, cello & piano), Winter for
Ivan (cello, piano &orchestra), Bidwell’s Path (orchestra), The One-
Arméd Man (harpsichord), Phantasy on 3 Ancient Christmas Carols
(violin alone) and If (piano, Oboe / English horn, French horn, violin,
cello & narrator). Richard is a member of the Nevada County
Composers Cooperative.
Richard’s recent film and game composer credits include the Dark
(horror feature film), Stealing Time (South African dramatic feature
film), the trailer to Unbroken (feature film in pre-production), The
Killing of Mary Surratt (docu-drama soon to featured over The History
Channel) Raven Crest (webseries), Star Trek Lexington (webseries),
Galahad (TV episodic pilot), Bloodspear (video game), theme song to
Venture Dinosaurua! (video game), and Cancer Man (film premiered
at Comic Con).
A short film he scored won 1st Prize in the So-Cal Cinema Grand
Slam Competition in Hollywood and screened at SUNDANCE. he
was also chosen among 12 composers worldwide to participate in the
prestigious ASCAP Film Composers’ Workshop, composing,
arranging, conducting and recording with the Hollywood Studio
Orchestra at 20th C. Fox.
Having lived in LA for many years, Richard is a sought-after studio
musician and has participated in over 1000 film scores. An A-List
Violinist, and Principal for John Williams (Indiana Jones 4) and Danny
Elfman, Richard has participated in over 1000 film scores with such
composers as Hans Zimmer, James Horner, Howard Shore, James
Newton Howard, and the two late greats Jerry Goldsmith and John
Barry. A short list of film and game recording credits include Epic, Life
of Pi, Monsters University, the Jurassic Park films as well as the
Bourne, Matrix, Pirates of the Caribbean and Toy Story film series,
Fable, the Sims, Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Titanic, Alice in
Wonderland and Prince of Persia. He has performed live on the
Academy Awards and The Tonight Show and collaborated with Frank
Sinatra, YoYo Ma, Barbra Streisand, Mannheim Steamroller among
many others. He has composed song arrangements for Natasha
Bedingfield.
Richard and musician / singer wife Dawn are the proud parents of a
very musical 9-year-old son Bren, and reside in Nevada County.
